Torbay Beach Camp 2024 (Members Only)
 Torbay Beach Camp at Camp Kennedy is the Club's premier annual event on the south coast west of Albany, https://campkennedy.org!
 It is an absolute beachfront holiday. Past activities at the camp have included Talent Show evening, walks, swimming, canoeing, boogie boarding, fishing, coffee drinking at local cafe, etc. As in previous years, the site is deemed alcohol and smoking free.
 Families stay in separate 'hut'. The huts have a bed base and mattress but little else – they are really basic. You will have the use of the shared outdoor kitchen/BBQ area, dish washing area with running water, fridge and freezers and the ablution blocks. There is also a fee-paying washing machine and clothes line for laundry. The dining hall has tables and benches. You will need to provide your own cooking pots and serving plates and utensils.
 For 2024, the indicative prices are:     •    Dorms is $20/n for Adult and $15/n for Children.
     •    Camping at unpowered site is $14/n for Adult and $12/n for Children.
     •    Powered site is $17/n for Adult and $14/n for Children. There are only two sites.
     •    Please book directly with Camp Kennedy: Admin@campkennedy.org
     •    Then register your intention here with WAFBC so we know who is going.
     •    Please pay when you arrive at Torbay to the Camp Manager. Unsure if EFTPOS is availble. ***Interested families needs to book directly with the Camp Manager. please book early to avoid disappointment! *** The accommodation will be given on a first come first serve basis. Unlike previous years, we no longer have exclusive use of the entire camp ground. Check-in time is 3.00pm and check-out time is 11.00am.
Each family may be given a cleaning rooster for cleaning bathroom, dining hall etc.

 What to bring/Expect: Bedding: Sheets, Pillows, Quilts or Sleeping bags.
 Cooking utensil, Serving plates, Cutlery and cooking utensils.
 Tea Towels (Bring a few) - You are expected to clean your dishes.
 Camping chair, if you want to sit in front of your dorm/hut.
 Games to play (there is also small sand pit playground for kid).
 Books to read.
 Food.
 Each family is encouraged to participate in the Talent Show concert night, usually on the last night of the camp.  Activity-based gear e.g. hiking, swimming, fishing etc.
 Each family is encouraged to host a group based activity, such as going to the beach or coffee at Cozy Corner.
 Please write your actvity on the whiteboard on arrival. I will organise an Overnight hike to a Bibulmum shelter and return the next morning, if there are interest.

Camp Kennedy to Torbay Campsite Overnight Hike on the Bibbulmen (Members only) Whilst we are Camping at Camp Kennedy, we will organise an overnight hike from Camp Kennedy to Torbay Campsite on the Bibbulmen Track. This is a easy ~8km return overnight walk suitable for walkers of all experience. It is especially suitable for adults and children wanting to do an overnight hike for the first time to shake down their gear. Starting at Camp Kennedy around 2pm, the first section is on the beach until Cosy Corner, where we will head inland towards the Torbay Campsite. The Campsite is on an elevated location affording a great view of the setting sun over the Southern Ocean. We return the next morning via the same route. Expect to be back around 8am. Please consult the whiteboard in the mess hall at Camp Kennedy for up to date information. Date and time are to be confirmed at Camp Kennedy. Cost: Free, but only available to member at camping at Torbay. Torbay Camp Activity: Handy Knots for Camping, hiking and home (Members Only) This is a hands-on is mainly for adults to get up to speed with useful knots. Participants are encouraged to bring piece(s) of rope, eg Grunt 3mmø x 20m cord (ie, Very thin) from Bunnings as this is a hands-on activity. There is a Bunnings in Albany or please buy in Perth. f We will learn how to, String up a ridge line to set up a tarp shelter. Finish a rope with Figure-8. Hang your food bag in the air to keep it away from animals: PCT Bear Hang. Tie a shoelace that won't come undone whilst hiking. Guy a line without hardware How to roll up your rope. Examples of knots we will review are: Double Fisherman Prusik Bowline Trucker's Hitch Half Hitch Clove Hitch Berluti Taut line Figure-8 Bring: Participants are encouraged to bring cordage of any dimensions to string up a ridge line between trees and to hang a food bag over a tree branch. Located in the spectacular Torndirrup National Park, the Bald Head Walk Trail is a challenging 12.5 kilometre return traverse of the Flinders Peninsula providing stunning views of the Southern Ocean and King George Sound.  This rewarding hike won’t leave you wanting for more and has a number of great photographic opportunities. We will walk as far as the group is willing before turning back. Check board at Torbay for details. Parents responsible for own children. Insurance does not cover children. Pack light but ensure you have water and sturdy shoes and some snacks. Hats, sunscreen, fly net recommended. Particpate at own risk.

Omeo Shipwreck Dive Trail, Coogee Beach Snorkelling Omeo Shipwreck Trail. Children must be supervised by parents at all times, while in the water and near the water, at their own risk. Each family must provide their own swimming gear, bathers, sun protection,  snorkelling equipment, floatation devices if required, towels, dry clothes, sunscreen, hats, shoes, water and food. Each family will need somewhere to put their valuables car keys, phone, while in the water and at their own risk. Option, BYO picnic, sup boards, kayaks, toys, sand building for afterwards.   Location and parking The Coogee Maritime Trail can be accessed from Socrates Parade in North Coogee (view Google map).

Free parking is available on Socrates Parade and nearby streets. Parking is also available on Chieftain Esplanade, and extends around the corner onto the southern peninsular. A path connects this parking area to the Omeo Shipwreck at Coogee Maritime Trail.  Accessing the trails The dive and snorkel trail starts at the Omeo shipwreck and continues 200m west, following the southern breakwater.  
The land-based trail runs parallel along the breakwater esplanade, near Socrates Parade in North Coogee.

Christmas Picnic at Matilda Bay, Crawley. All Welcome Near the 2 jetties and next to the Bayside Kitchen. All are welcome to join us for a picnic by the Maltida Bay/Swan River with a possible visit by Father Christmas (To be confirmed). The kids can play, swim, canoe/kayak or sail if they wish, while the adults relax and chat on the beach or maybe a game of frisbee. You can arrive by bike if you wish. It will be in the afternoon this year but always a pleasant way to spend the best part of a day under the shade of the peppermints. There is a cafe nearby for those wanting a coffee or ice cream. Also, please bring something approximately $5-10 (eg, lolly stockings or wrapped gift. Labelled with your child's name) for Father Christmas to give to your child. Time: 3pm onwards Venue: Matilda Bay, near Bayside Kitchen Cost: Free, BYO everything. Important information: Parents are responsible for their children. Ice Blocking/Reverse Tobogganing at Banks Reserves Mount Lawley Ice blocking is a much anticipated activity we are trialing this year. What is ice blocking, you ask? Well, it is a bit like reverse tobogganing, so instead of sliding down an icy hill on a toboggan, we will be sliding down a grass hill sitting on a giant block of ice! It is lots of laughs and fair bit of rolling down the hill! Please bring a towel to sit on and a drink bottle for refreshment. The ice blocks comes with a rope handle so your child has something to hold onto. The ice blocks will last for hours, so be prepared for the length of stay. The hill are not that steep so it will suit most children.   Venue:   Banks Reserves Mount Lawley  Date:  Sat 7/10/2023  Time:  10am  Cost:  WAFBC member $10 per child or adult.
